If you follow me on Pinterest, you know I have a thing for Shibori techniques. After dying every grey thing I owned, eventually I started to think it could work on my craft projects as well.
It was so easy and so fun! I created a custom hue with my watercolor set, filling up the small dish with about 1/4" of water. This technique works best with rice paper or any paper that behaves a little bit like fabric. There are plenty of different Shibori styles out there, but I went with simple accordion folds and triangle folds. Once folded up, I dipped all the edges into my watercolor "dye". I unfolded them while they were still wet, laid them flat and stuck my cutting mat on them so they would unwrinkle as they dried. Next round I may get more adventurous with some string and try a complex pattern but for now these results are more than enough fun.
Can't wait to put them on some pages this weekend!
